What is the Brighton Marathon Weekend 26 in 26 challenge?

Participants had from 1st December until Boxing Day (26th December) to cover a total of 26.2 miles using the run, walk or wheelchair activity using the Runkeeper app and complete the 26 in 26 Boxing Day challenge.

After each logged session or activity, progress was tracked against the virtual Brighton Marathon course on the event page. Your position is logged on the challenge leaderboard.

Prizes

Everyone who completed the challenge will get the chance to WIN one of three prize bundles that include a pair of ASICS shoes up to £155 in value AND a 3 year Brighton Marathon Membership.

A Brighton Marathon Membership offers you guaranteed entry into Brighton Marathon for three years, Race Pack delivery, VIP facilities at the Start, easy transfers each year of your place and discounts for friends and family to all of our events.

Everyone who completes the challenge also should have received a digital finishers medal.

We will contact the Winners within three (3) weeks of December 26, 2021 about the prize draw, via the email address provided for the entry. Please see terms and conditions below for more information.

Is there a first place prize for completing the challenge?

There is no prize for completing the challenge first. Winners of the prizes will be selected at random once the challenge has ended from all those who have completed the distance.

Terms and conditions

Brighton Marathon 26 in 26 Challenge (the ‘Challenge’) is a competition run between Brighton Marathon Weekend and Grounded Events Company (GEC), ASICS and Runkeeper.

Duration:

The Challenge will run from 1st December, 2021 08:00 (GMT) to 26th December, 2021 23:59 (GMT) (the “Challenge Period”).

Entry:

The Challenge is open to all people who satisfactorily completed the Challenge as shown on Race Roster results page (excluding direct family members or anyone involved with Grounded Events Company, ASICS or Runkeeper) who are at least 18 years of age.

Prizes:

Three (3) Winners will be randomly selected by GEC employees via software, from all valid entries and once verified will each be awarded one (1) pair of ASICS shoes of their choosing priced at or under £155 (as listed on the UK ASICS site ) and one (1) 3 year Brighton Marathon Weekend Membership.

Distribution of prize to be confirmed following competition closing

Any expenses not specifically mentioned herein are not included as part of the Prize, and are solely each Winner’s responsibility. All taxes or fees on the Prize, if any, are the sole responsibility of each Winner. Each Winner bears all risk of loss or damage to Prize after it released to Winner or after it is placed by GEC with a third-party common carrier for shipment to Winner. Prize will not be replaced if lost or stolen and is not redeemable for cash. No substitution allowed.

General Terms and Conditions:

  1. The Challenge is administered by The Grounded Events Company, 32 West Street, Brighton BN1 2RT (GEC)
  2. The Challenge period runs from 1st December, 2021 08:00 (GMT) to 26th December, 2021 23:59 (GMT). Entries must be completed during the Challenge Period to be validly included in the Challenge.
  3. Participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry into the Challenge.
  4. If entering the Challenge via the App, participants must complete tracked activity to enter. Once the activity is completed, entry to the sweepstake is automatic. No purchase is necessary to enter or win the Challenge.
  5. If entering the Challenge via the App, the activity must be completed during the Challenge Period. Winners will be randomly selected by GEC employees via software from all eligible entries received before the end of the Challenge Period.
  6. Any entry not complying with these Challenge Rules is invalid. GEC explicitly reserves the right to refuse or remove a submission of an entry, at its sole discretion, in the event GEC determines the Participant does not comply with all Challenge Rules.
  7. GEC will contact the Winners within three (3) weeks of December 26, 2021 about the prize draw, via the email address provided for the entry and ask to provide a valid mailing address for the sole purpose of delivering the Prize. The Winner will need to confirm the acceptance of the Prize and provide the mailing address, in writing, via email, to the initial contact within seven (7) working days to confirm the acceptance of the Prize. In the event that GEC cannot for any reason get in contact with a winner, or a winner rejects or does not confirm its acceptance or provide the mailing address, in writing, via email, to the initial communications within seven (7) working days, GEC reserves the right to select another winner by means of same winner selection process.
  8. In case the Winner rejects the Prize after the acceptance, he or she shall bear any administrative costs incurred by GEC and the cancellation fees / change of name fees. For the avoidance of doubt, there are no cash or any other alternative.
  9. In GEC’ sole discretion, disqualification, forfeiture and the selection of an alternate winner may result from any of the following: (1) a potential Winner’s failure to respond to notification promptly upon receipt; (2) a potential Winner’s failure to provide GEC with satisfactory proof of age, identity and residency; and (3) any other non-compliance with the Challenge Rules.
  10. No cash redemptions or Prize substitutions allowed. The Prizes, or any unused portion thereof, cannot be returned, are non-transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
  11. If for any reason any aspect of the Challenge event is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, telephone network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of GEC, GEC reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Challenge, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the relevant government authorities, if required.
  12. GEC reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or operation of GEC or to be acting in violation of these Challenge Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or entering or attempting to enter the Challenge multiple times through the use of multiple e-mail addresses or the use of any robotic or automated devices to submit entries.
  13. GEC’ decisions as to the administration and operation of the Challenge and the selection of the potential winners are final and binding in all matters related to the Challenge and are not open for discussion with GEC.
  14. GEC (their officers, directors, employees and agents) shall not be liable (including for negligence) for any personal injury or any loss or damage otherwise arising out of or in connection, directly or indirectly, with this Challenge, the Prize(s) or technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under GEC’s control).
  15. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, by participating in the Challenge, all participants agree to release and hold harmless GEC, its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, agents, successors, assigns, each of their officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, (a) Prize claims that contain inaccurate information or do not comply with or violate these Challenge Rules; (b) Prize claims or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part, due to computer, human or technical error of any kind; (c) participants who have committed fraud or deception in entering or participating in the Challenge or claiming the Prize; (d) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (e) any inability of the participant to accept the Prize for any reason; (f) if a Prize cannot be awarded due to cancellation, delays or interruptions due to Act of God, natural disasters, terrorism, pandemic, weather or any other similar event beyond GEC’s reasonable control; or (g) any damages, injuries or losses of any kind caused by the Prize or resulting from awarding, acceptance, possession, use, misuse, loss or misdirection of the Prize or resulting from participating in the Challenge or prize related activities.
  16. GEC will not respond to any inquiries regarding individual’s Challenge status or result.
  17. GEC reserves the right to modify these Challenge Rules at any time without prior notice for the sole purpose of ensuring the good execution of the Challenge, with no detrimental effect on the participants.
