Please note that there will not be a bag drop facility at the Brighton Marathon, BM10k or BM Ride start.

Bag Drop will take place in the Beach Village on Friday 31 March and Saturday 01 April.

However – spectators will be allowed into Preston Park this year ahead of the ‘Athlete Only’ area. You will therefore be able to ask your supporter(s) to take your kit bag with them to the Finish if you do not want to drop it in the days preceding.

WHY ISN’T THERE A BAGGAGE SERVICE FROM THE START?

  • Madeira Terrace renovations are underway and access to Black Rock is closed. This makes it impossible for us to move the articulated baggage lorries from Preston Park to the finish area on Madeira Drive without crossing the live course and runners moving in two directions.
  • By removing the baggage at the start, we are able to considerably reduce dwell time and congestion in Preston Park. We trialled this system in September 2021 and survey feedback from finishers was extremely positive.

PREPARING YOUR KIT BAG IN ADVANCE

You will be given a reusable, clear, sealable Kit Bag when collecting your Race Pack from the Beach Village, which will keep your belongings clean and dry to collect at the Finish.

Please prepare what you are going to place in your Kit Bag BEFORE arriving at the Beach Village to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

The kit bag measurements will be available in your participant instructions, and will be enough for a fresh pair of trainers and some clothes.

DROPPING YOUR BAG OFF IN THE BEACH VILLAGE

Once you have collected your Race Pack from the Race Pack Collection point, you will be directed to the Bag Drop area where there will be space and trestle tables to pack your Kit Bag with the items you have prepared. You will then drop your bag into the containers that are marked according to your Race Number.

IF SOMEONE ELSE IS COLLECTING YOUR PACK

If you are unable to collect your Race Pack and Kit Bag, someone else can do so and also drop your prepared Kit Bag in the Beach Village. More information will be available in the Participant Instructions.

Tips and Advice

  • You can give your Kit Bag to a supporter before you enter Preston Park, and meet them after you finish.
  • Any items of clothing you wish to wear at the start to stay warm can be discarded in the start area. These will then be collected by various charities for repurposing.
  • If you’re staying in a hotel, check if the reception can hold your room key and bags for you.
  • If someone else is collecting your Race Pack on Friday and Saturday of event weekend, could they pack a kit bag for you in the weeks. preceding and drop it?
  • If you are using Park and Ride, could you use a running belt or other accessories for your car key, phone and bank card?
  • We advise keeping valuables out of your Kit Bag. We recommend using a running belt, a mobile phone arm holder, a pocket within an item of clothing etc. for any valuable items such as phone, key or money.
  • There are luggage storage services available in the city for larger bags such as CityStasher.
