The Brighton Marathon and other events referred to in these Term and Conditions are organised and administered by The Grounded Events Company Limited (Co. No.6363644) whose registered office is at Preston Park House, South Road, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 6SB (“we” or “us”)


By paying your membership subscription you are entitled to the benefits set out in these Terms and Conditions for the period of your membership. All membership fees are inclusive of all processing fees and VAT and are payable in full prior to membership commencing and you being entitled to the benefits set out in these Terms and Conditions.
The period of your membership and the relevant membership fee will be confirmed prior to payment. Your membership ceases on the day after the last Brighton Marathon that you are entitled to enter without further charge. By way of example, if you pay for a 10 year Membership on 1 January 2020 then your membership entitles you to entry into the following 10 Brighton Marathons and membership will cease the day after the 10th Brighton Marathon.

Please note that participation in any event that that we organise and which you or any third party participate in is, save as varied in these Terms and Conditions, subject the terms, conditions, rules and regulations that apply to the relevant event. Details of the relevant terms, conditions, rules and regulations will be supplied to participants prior to the relevant event.

Any breach of such terms, conditions, rules and regulations will entitle us to immediately disqualify the relevant individual concerned, eject them from the event and cancel your membership without refund or other compensation.


During the period of your membership you are entitled to the following benefits:-

1.1 Entry into the Brighton Marathon each year without further charge.

1.2 The right to transfer, without charge, your entry into the Brighton Marathon to someone else of your choosing subject to:-

(a) us receiving written notice from you of the proposed transfer between 1 March and 15 March in the relevant year of the event (or during such other period as we may from time to time advise members or as we may otherwise agree with you); and

(b) the relevant transferee confirming that they agree the relevant event’s terms, conditions, rules and regulations.

1.3 A discount of 20% off the standard entry fee for up to 5 entries in aggregate each year into the Brighton Marathon and/or the BM10k and/or the BM Ride. You will be issued with a discount code each year, which code can be used once entries open by anyone over the age of 18 of your choosing (subject to the above maximum numbers). Entry into such events is subject to the relevant participant agreeing the relevant event’s terms, conditions, rules and regulations.

1.4 Race packs for the Brighton Marathon will be sent to you in advance by us to you (or, where you have transferred your entry in accordance with paragraph 1.2 above, to the relevant transferee) in the post so as to avoid you having to collect the same in person from Beach Village. Please note section 4 below as we cannot be responsible for race packs or other communications being sent to incorrect addresses where we have not been informed of the relevant changes. Please also note that race packs of anyone who has signed up via the discounts referred to in paragraph 1.3 will be delivered to you or the transferee unless you inform us otherwise to arrange collection at the Beach Village. Any changes must be submitted in writing no later than 16th March 2021.

1.5 In the unlikely event of the Brighton Marathon being cancelled in any year for whatever reason, your membership shall be extended without charge for a further year.

1.6 If in any year you do not wish to run the Brighton Marathon (and have not transferred your entry to someone else in accordance with paragraph 1.2) but wish to take part in the BM10k or the BM Ride instead, you are able to transfer your entry free of charge to such alternative event. Requests to do so may be arranged by contacting us in writing at least 14 days prior to the date of the relevant Brighton Marathon.


2.1 Membership is personal to you and is not transferable. This does not affect you right to transfer your entry into the Brighton Marathon in any year as set out above

2.2 Your entry into the Brighton Marathon each year may not be deferred (eg in the event of you changing your mind or being injured) but you may transfer to the BM10k or the BM Ride instead as indicated in paragraph 1.6.


Subject to paragraph 3.2 below, if, within 14 days of purchasing your membership, you have changed your mind and want to cancel your membership you may do so by writing to us confirming the same. Provided that we receive such notification within 14 days of purchase then we will cancel your membership and refund the membership fee paid.

3.2 Your right to cancel in paragraph 3.1 shall cease to apply if, following purchase, you (or anyone else to whom you have transferred your entry) has taken part in the Brighton Marathon under the terms of such membership or has otherwise utilised any discounts or other benefits supplied to you by virtue of such membership.

3.3 If during the period of your membership you are no longer able to take part in the Brighton Marathon due to death, long term illness or incapacity you may cancel your membership and receive a pro rata refund of your membership fee. Where you wish to exercise this right you or someone else on your behalf should write to us as soon as possible and explain, in reasonable detail, the circumstances that have arisen. We reserve the right to require that medical or other appropriate evidence is supplied to us of any long term illness or incapacity. Where, acting reasonably, we are satisfied that the circumstances are such that you will no longer be able to benefit from the balance of your membership, we will make a refund in accordance with paragraph 3.4 and your membership will terminate on the day after the next Brighton Marathon that takes place after we receive notification.

3.4 Refunds under paragraph 3.3 are calculated on a pro rata basis from the date membership commenced to the date of the Brighton Marathon that takes place immediately following the date of notification of death or long term illness or incapacity.

By way of example if a 5 year membership is purchased on 1 January 2020 (to cover the Brighton Marathons in 2020-2024 inclusive) and we receive notification on 1 January 2021, your membership will continue until the day after 2021 Brighton Marathon and you will be entitled to a refund of 3/5ths of the initial membership fee.


It is important that we always have up to date contact details for you. In the circumstances, if your postal address, email address or telephone number details change, then you must inform us as soon as possible by emailing the address below. If this is not done, we cannot guarantee that you will receive all event communications.
